Tile and Stone products are very HEAVY which makes these products more expensive to ship when compared to other items you can purchase online like clothing, electronics, etc.
Tile Clearance, Inc. / Tile Store Online are in the Tile and Stone business and NOT in the shipping business. Our goal is to offer the best Tile, Stone and related products at the best possible price.
We do not own any shipping companies or own stock in any of the shipping companies, therefore we have no interest in making any money on shipping.
The shipping rate you see is NOT our shipping rate. It is the rate that is calculated by the shipping company based on the weight of the item shipped from the warehouse zip code to your zip code.
We simply input the weight of the product when we add an item to our store and the Shipping Company live rates calculates the shipping cost based on the weight of the items you purchased to your zip code. The Shipping Company ( Not Us ) comes up with the cost of the shipping. We do not keep any of the money for the shipping cost. The money you pay for shipping goes to the shipping company.
We do NOT ship by USPS anymore, due to the fact that they lost or damaged many of our packages. Once you add tracking and delivery confirmation to the package it costs about the same as shipping it via UPS or FedEx Ground. UPS and FedEx also insures the package for up to $100.00 at no extra extra charge.
Orders that weigh more than 500 lbs. will usually ship by LTL Freight Truck. After you place your order, we will contact you with the quotes from the Trucking companies and the various options available to you.
Once we have discussed shipping options with you and you have chosen the shipping option you want, we will arrange a separate payment for the shipping charges.
We will be more than happy to accommodate you if you would like to arrange to pick up your order from our warehouse or our vendors warehouse if there is one located near you.
"LTL" - Less Than Truckload quantities.
These trucking companies do have certain terms that you need to be aware of. The following are some of these terms and conditions.
You can choose to have your order delivered to your home, a business, or you can pick it up at a designated freight terminal in your area. Usually, the charge for having the order sent to a business or delivered to a freight terminal is slightly less than to a home. If you choose this option, we will notify you as to the terminal location AFTER you make a purchase.
You must have someone at the delivery location to help unload the order. Deliveries are "curb side". The driver's will not bring the material into your home. If you are handicapped or have no way of assisting the driver, please call our office and we will explain the extra fee to have the material unloaded.
The freight carrier will usually contact you prior to the delivery. We will send you an e-mail when your order ships, a tracking number will be provided in the notes section of your order
The freight company will usually give you the date of delivery, and a time window which should be a two to six hour time span.
Whoever is accepting the delivery must inspect the material and note any damage on the delivery slip before the driver leaves.
You need to make sure that the order is inspected when delivered. If you are not going to be the one accepting the order, you have to make sure that the person signing the order is capable of doing so. You cannot sign the paperwork and let the driver leave until the order has been thoroughly inspected. If there is any damaged material, it must be noted on the paperwork in order for us to issue replacement material to you and for us to be properly reimbursed by the trucking company. If there is any damaged material, we will immediately reship your replacement for this material, as long as it was noted in the paperwork.
